Jewellery Care & Safety Guide

Thank you for choosing Nicturnal jewellery! To ensure your jewellery stays beautiful and safe to wear, please follow these care and safety guidelines.

1. Important Safety Information

  • Not for children – My jewellery contains small parts and delicate materials, making it unsuitable for children. Keep out of reach to prevent choking hazards.

  • Remove before sleeping – Sleeping with jewellery on may cause damage to the piece and pose a risk of injury (e.g., snagging on bedding or hair).

  • Avoid wearing during physical activities – Remove jewellery before exercising, playing sports, or performing heavy tasks to prevent breakage, scratches, or injury.

  • Do not put jewellery in your mouth – Some materials may contain metals or coatings that are not safe for ingestion.

  • Keep away from extreme temperatures – Exposure to excessive heat, cold, or direct sunlight can affect the materials, adhesives, and images inside glass pendants.

  • Contains sterling silver, recycled silver, rhodium-plated, and/or silver-plated components. Discontinue use if irritation occurs.

  • Please note: Jewellery is made in a home studio where a dog is present. All pieces are cleaned and polished before dispatch, but a small chance of pet allergens may exist.

2. Caring for Silver Jewellery

Silver naturally tarnishes over time, but proper care can keep it looking beautiful:

  • Store properly – Keep silver jewellery in a dry, cool place, ideally in an anti-tarnish pouch or soft cloth bag.

  • Avoid moisture & chemicals – Remove before showering, swimming, or using perfumes, lotions, or cleaning products.

  • Clean regularly – Use a soft polishing cloth to gently remove tarnish.

        About Diamond Cut Snake Chains:

  • Diamond cut snake chains are beautifully smooth and reflective, but due to their construction they may naturally develop a slight wave when hanging or after being stored. This is a normal characteristic of this style and is not considered a manufacturing defect.

  • When worn, the chain sits smoothly against the neck and the slight curve is not visible.

  • To help maintain its shape, store the chain flat whenever possible and gently repositioning it in your jewellery box from time to time. Avoid tightly bending or twisting the chain, as this may affect its shape over time.

3. Special Care for Glass Pendants

Your jewellery features glass cabochon pendants, which require extra care:

  • Fragile – Handle with care – Glass can break or chip if dropped or knocked against hard surfaces.

  • Keep dry – Glass pendants are not waterproof. Avoid submerging in water (e.g., swimming, showering) to protect the image inside.

  • Clean gently – Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. If necessary, use a damp microfiber cloth, but do not soak. Avoid harsh cleaners.

  • Protect from direct sunlight – Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight may cause the image inside to fade over time.

4. General Jewellery Care Tips

  • Put jewellery on last – Apply perfumes, lotions, and hairsprays before wearing your jewellery.

  • Remove before sleeping or exercising – Sweat and friction can wear down delicate finishes over time.

  • Store each piece separately – To avoid scratches, store jewellery individually in pouches or boxes.

To keep your jewellery safe and beautiful, please follow the care & safety advice. I can't take responsibility for damage or injury caused by misuse.
