From Night to Light
I’m Nicole, the creator behind Nicturnal. I grew up in a small city in Germany and now live in Prestwick, Scotland, a place that quickly became home after a memorable holiday with my partner.
During a difficult period with my mental health, I wanted to find a way to keep me distracted. What started as an exploration of art soon grew into jewellery making, and it wasn’t long until I created my first pieces and the idea of Nicturnal was born. Creating became a way to steady myself - and eventually, a way to share something meaningful with others.
Every design brings together my own astrophotography with thoughtfully selected materials, finished by hand and created in small numbers. No two pieces are ever exactly the same. I’d love for you to explore the astrophotography section to discover more of my work
A little more about me
I've been captivated by the mysteries of the universe for as long as I can remember. In 2021, I invested in my first astrophotography setup to capture the wonders of the night sky from my back garden in Scotland. Unfortunately, weather conditions here can often be very unfavourable, with frequent rain, cloud and wind. During these times, I found myself wondering how I could bring our universe closer to others. As I have always loved jewellery, I wanted to create a connection between both worlds, and that's when I've began to experiment. It's been a long journey with a steep learning curve, but I'm incredibly happy with the outcome and love being able to share a small piece of the cosmos in a more personal, tangible way.
